Cool your Body, Calm your Mind

August 2025 Newsletter

As summer temperatures continue on, it’s common to feel overheated, restless, or even irritable. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), excess heat can throw your body out of balance, affecting everything from your sleep to your digestion and mood. Acupuncture offers a natural way to release that internal heat, regulate your energy (Qi), and restore a sense of calm and clarity. In this issue, we’re sharing simple tips and cooling foods that help your body stay refreshed and your mind at ease so you can enjoy summer feeling centered and grounded.

I also shared some pictures of my new office space! I’m located in the same building, but now I’m in Suite 102. It’s the first door on the right when walking through the front door. I also have 2 dedicated parking spots labeled “Balancing Harmony Within” for my patients to use that are right next to the front door!

Please note: The best phone number to reach me at is 9778-309-3039. There is some confusion between my number and the Acupuncture of New England’s number which will be discontinued in the coming weeks as Heidi is retiring.

As always, thank you for your loyalty and putting trust in me to help you on your healing journey. Follow me on Instagram BalancingHarmonyWithin for any updates. I look forward to seeing you!

With gratitude, Brittany Moore

Simple Tips to Release Summer Heat

Here are a few simple, natural tips to help release internal heat, regulate Qi, and stay calm and clear headed during the summer.

Eat Cooling Foods

Add cucumber, watermelon, mint, celery, and leafy greens to your meals. These naturally cool the body and support digestion.

Sip Herbal Teas

Try chrysanthemum, peppermint or hibiscus tea, cooling herbs that help release heat and calm the mind. On those hot summer days, you can brew the tea and then let it cool off in your fridge!

Stay Hydrated

Drink room temperature or slightly cool water throughout the day. Avoid ice cold drinks, which can block digestion and is harder for the body to digest. High quality salt or electrolytes are a good addition to your water on those super hot days. The salt helps to restore imbalances that occur from sweating a lot.

Limit Spicy & Fried Foods

These increase internal heat. Opt for steamed to lightly cooked meals instead.

Rest at Midday

This is the hottest part of the day. If possible, rest or meditate to conserve your energy and cool the mind.

Practice Breathwork

Slow, deep breathing or “Cooling Breath” (inhale through a rolled tongue or pursed lips, exhale through the nose)

Get Acupuncture

Regular treatments help regulate your Qi, release trapped heat, and restore clarity, digestion, and emotional balance.
