Helpful Tips to Tackle the Holiday Stressors
Prioritize Restorative Sleep
The holiday season often comes with late nights, but take advantage of opportunities to catch an extra hour or two of sleep whenever possible. Quality sleep is essential for your longevity, health, happiness, and stress levels! If you find yourself waking up repeatedly during the night, this could be your body’s way of signaling that something is out of balance. Addressing this early can help prevent it from becoming a pattern. Personally, I find that an acupuncture session is an excellent way to reset my sleep when disruptions begin. Often, just one session can restore my sleep rhythm if I catch it early.
Manage Stress with Acupressure
Acupressure on Large Intestine 4 (LI4) and Liver 3 (LV3) can be incredibly effective for stress relief. LI4 is located in the fleshy area between your thumb and index finger, while LV3 is in the depression between the first (big) and second toe, about an inch from the end of your foot. Gently massage these points on both sides for 5–10 minutes to promote relaxation. This could even become a calming ritual before bed! If you’re unsure about the exact location, a quick online search can help guide you.
Balance Indulgence with Nourishment
The holidays often bring a flood of sweet treats, but maintaining a balanced diet is key to curbing cravings and supporting your body with essential nutrients. Remember, enjoying dessert doesn’t mean skipping your fruits, veggies, and proteins! During the colder months, warm soups are a fantastic way to pack in nutrients and promote healthy digestion. Your digestive system thrives on warm, slow-cooked foods, so make them a staple this season.
Schedule Time for Yourself
Treat your self-care like an important meeting—schedule it! Set aside 15, 30, or 60 minutes in the next week and mark it on your calendar to hold yourself accountable. It’s easy to get caught up in the holiday hustle, but taking time for yourself ensures you’ll be happier, healthier, and more energized when the festivities arrive.
Ease Tension with Movement
Keep up with your daily movement, whether it’s yoga, walking, swimming, pilates, boxing, or whatever brings you joy and keeps your body active. A variety of workouts can help you stay balanced—some days might call for a light walk, while others may suit a heavier workout or cardio session. Listen to your body and honor what it needs each day to release tension and stay energized.
My Holiday Schedule

Appointments in December are filling up fast, be sure to schedule a treatment time to relax your brain and body amidst all the holiday craziness. Let me help you stay relaxed and keep those winter blues away so you can fully enjoy the holidays!
Immune-Boosting Turmeric and Ginger Soup
This soup is packed with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-rich ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and garlic, complemented by hearty vegetables and lentils for warmth and nourishment. Here's a summary of the preparation process:
Sauté Aromatics: Heat coconut oil in a pot, then cook onion, garlic, ginger, and turmeric until aromatic.
Add Vegetables and Lentils: Incorporate carrots, celery, sweet potato, vegetable broth, and red lentils. Season with cumin and coriander.
Simmer: Cook until the vegetables and lentils are tender, then blend for a creamy consistency.
Finish with Lemon Juice: Add lemon juice for brightness and serve garnished with fresh coriander.
Garlic, turmeric, and ginger are all great additions to home-cooked meals during the winter to help keep your immune system strong and healthy!
Gift Guide For The Holidays
There is a Holiday Gift Set available in the office! It’s made locally by From the Ground Up Healing and includes everyone’s favorite 37 salve! This is the lotion I use on patients suffering from any type of pain for tui na, cupping and gua sha. Each gift set includes two loose leaf herbal teas- tranquil-tea and Deep Sleep or Immuni-Tea, 37 salve, and a tea strainer! They make for a perfect, unique teacher gift, hostess gift, stocking stuffer, gift for your in-laws, friends, and family! Each gift set is $30. Limited supply only- get them while they are still available!

Dr Guo’s 37 Healing Salve: If you just want the 37 salve that is also available for purchase! I use it every single day on my patients. This salve works wonders on any type of pain! A little goes a long way. I love this because it’s made up of 37 (hence the name) different types of herbs that all help to invigorate the qi and blood to reduce inflammation, stagnation, and pain. There are no harsh chemicals in this that are typically found in other pain relieving gels, ointments, and salves. This salve is $35+ tax, but it’s worth every penny!

Gift Certificates are also available in any denomination. These make a thoughtful & caring gift for your loved ones, whether they are existing clients or someone else you know who could benefit from our services. Available for purchase over the phone or via email as well as in the office!

Thank You
