Back to School Support & Patient Testimony

Finds some ways to help get you back into the school schedule and take a look at a magnificent tongue transformation

  September 2024 Newsletter

As summer fades and the back-to-school season kicks into high gear, families are adjusting to new routines, earlier mornings, and the hustle and bustle of academic life. Whether you're a student gearing up for a new semester or a parent managing a packed schedule, this transition period can bring about a variety of challenges, including stress, fatigue, and imbalances in your overall well-being. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can play a crucial role in helping you navigate these changes with greater ease and resilience allowing you to tackle the busy schedules with ease. Below you will find 3 ways in which I can help you get back into the rhythm of school.

Furthermore, there is also a patient testimony and tongue pictures from a patient that wanted to share her experiences while receiving acupuncture at Acupuncture of New England. People often ask what I look for in the tongue and why I take pictures. I take note of the shape of the tongue, the tongue coat, the color of the coat, any cracks on the tongue, and the color of the tongue itself- it all shares with me where there are disharmonies in the body. By taking pictures, I can track the progress and also show you your own progress throughout the treatments.

As always, thank you for your loyalty and putting trust in me to help you on your healing journey. I look forward to seeing you!

With gratitude, Brittany Smith

3 ways acupuncture and herbs can help with the transition back to school

1. Managing Stress and Anxiety

The shift from the laid-back days of summer to the structured demands of the school year can be a significant source of stress for both students and parents. Acupuncture is well-known for its ability to help manage stress and anxiety by balancing the body’s energy and promoting relaxation. By targeting specific acupuncture points, I can help calm the nervous system, reduce anxiety levels, and improve overall emotional well-being. Certain acupuncture points can help stimulate the release of neurotransmitters which can regulate the bodies stress and anxiety levels. Herbal remedies can also complement this treatment by calming the mind and regulating the body’s innate energy.

2. Supporting Immune Health

The transition back to school often means exposure to new germs and viruses and with the chilly mornings we often under dress and expose ourselves to colder climates than the body has been used to. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can strengthen the immune system, making it easier for your body to fend off common illnesses. Acupuncture treatments can stimulate the body's defense mechanisms, while specific herbal formulas can provide immune-boosting properties to help you stay healthy throughout the school year. PS: don’t forget your light fall jackets in the morning even if the afternoon is still toasty.

3. Improving Sleep Patterns

With early wake-up times and busy schedules, maintaining healthy sleep patterns can be challenging. Do you find yourself waking up several times throughout the night? That doesn’t have to happen! Acupuncture can help regulate your sleep cycle by addressing imbalances that may be affecting your ability to fall and stay asleep. Herbal remedies, such as those with calming properties, can also support restful sleep and help you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day.

Patient Testimony and Tongue Pictures

“After years of not feeling well and lacking energy, I decided to explore acupuncture starting with allergy relief and digestive issues. A thoughtful phone conversation with Brittany Smith led me to start my journey at Acupuncture of New England because she thoughtfully described this form of alternative medicine as a way to peel back the onion to get at the core of what needs to be healed in the body.

Over the course of weekly visits, I saw the symptoms (primarily unexplained hives and bloating) dissipate over 6-8 weeks.  The most surprising, and positive, ancillary responses to the treatments have been the improvement of my sleep, and the emotional relief it has provided.  Years of stored up grief got processed, and both stress and anxiety have been mitigated.

I now consider acupuncture at Acupuncture of New England as part of my health and emotional maintenance and seek it out for a tune up to keep both the physical and emotional aches and pains aways.   I have referred, and will continue to refer, friends and family to Brittany, she is the ultimate healer.”
